Adelyn CO #2

Date/Time: January 24th, 10:00am

Topic/Skill: Grammar. The class focused on a review of past perfect and past perfect continuous and halfway he switched into introducing phrasal verbs.

Teacher Presentation: Dr. Rios started class with a review where he had the students be the leaders (they gave the definitions, differences, and examples). It was very interactive and had lots of conversations. He then gave them a game to play where they individually had to drag words to create sentences. Afterwards he taught them phrasal verbs with a great explanation and examples. Instead of leaving them to work in the textbook, they used the textbook to view definitions and examples but he made it very interactive and created conversations instead of fill in the blanks. They ended with a matching activity with phrasal verbs and new vocabulary.

Classroom Management: Dr. Rios moved all around the room, giving each student equal time to answer questions and ask them, and he provided and maintained a very upbeat and fun atmosphere.

Materials: Canvas, whiteboard, textbook

Student Participation: Students answered questions and asked them, they took notes, and were constantly engaged in conversations and interactive with each other.

Feedback Provided: Dr. Rios gave live feedback during the discussion, making sure students spoke with proper grammar and the correct use of grammar.

Lesson(s) on teaching you learned: A good EFL/ESL teacher is one who is very inviting and personal with the students. There needs to be a good mixture of making learning fun/interesting, yet still challenging and rewarding.
