Topic/skill: Introduction and diagnostic. We had almost an hour of introducing ourselves.
She explained to me her goals for her English, as well as her interests.
She said that she really does not want to focus on grammar and vocabulary because she does that so much in her classes but instead more on conversation and the use of reading and writing. She mentioned a lot of her hobbies and things she’s passionate about so I will base a lot of our sessions on that. She also has a lot of good American references and slang stores in her vocabulary. This first lesson was a bit shorter only because she had to get her kid, but we created a good schedule and plan.
Feedback: When speaking I focused on what he was saying and didn’t immediately fix errors but helped with noticing them. When I was speaking, I did find myself needing to slow down for her quite a bit, but she did understand everything I was saying.
