Date/Time: Wednesday, January 24th, 3:00-5:00 pm (2 hour session)

Location: Hecht House 

Topic/skill: Today we focused on grammar. I had spent hours preparing a presentation and a few activities. He previously said that grammar is tough and wanted to focus on it. I went over all types of verbs, nouns, adjectives, adverbs, determiners, and pronouns. We will cover more in the next session. He did a really good job when we worked on sentences and using them in conversations. We did a few games where I would put a timer and he came up with as much as he could. This session was extremely effective overall and he learned/relearned a lot. It was a good mixture of knowledge and application.

Feedback: I had to correct some words while he was speaking and explain some of his mistakes, but I can understand almost everything he says or writes. Pronunciation is probably the hardest thing and working on his accent. We also discovered while doing grammar that he cannot say “the” or other words starting with “th-”. Next session I will help him better his accent and pronunciation and we will continue grammar and tenses.
