Topic/Skill: Speech Presentation

Feedback provided to tutee: I guided Sultan in the creation of a PowerPoint for presentation purposes, helping him adapt his brainstorm notes into slides, and encouraging him to do so rather than brainstorm more, as the presentation is only supposed to be five minutes. Once he had a rough draft, I had him do the presentation for me as if I was his class, then I timed him and made notes that I shared with him after, such as terms to clarify, adjustments to the slide structure, etc.

Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: When it comes to presentation, some struggles are shared across cultures and languages. Sultan overestimated how much material he would need to fill five minutes, and struggled with creating concise PowerPoint slides, not reading off of them, etc. Thankfully presentation making and giving are things I am quite comfortable with, and I was more than happy to teach this skill alongside the English being used for it.
