Chason TS #3
Date/Time: January 24th, 12:00pm
Location: CIES building
Topic/Skill: Reading Comprehension
Feedback provided to tutee: I congratulated Sultan on his successful presentation that I assisted him in developing for Dr. Rios' class. I then presented him with an academic text on the Arab water crisis, to get an idea of the upper level of his comprehension, since he plans to get a degree while at FSU. He continued to impress, and I made small corrections in word choice as needed during discussion (such as "interact" instead of "interfere").
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: It is better to have too much material and too many ideas than too few for a tutoring session! I expected the analysis of the book to take longer but I'm not sure Sultan was as interested as I might have guessed. We ended up talking more generally and about his life back home, and after some reiterative comments about what he struggles with most, I have a better idea of how to prepare for our next session.
