Location: Student Union

Topic/skill: I asked Salem different questions so that he could practice speaking. We spoke about his favorite holiday as well as talked about American celebrations like Halloween and the 4th of July. Then I gave him a worksheet that had different idioms on it. Before he started reading each sentence, we went over the meaning of each idiom. 

Feedback: There were vocabulary words within the sentence that Salem needed help understanding. In addition, I had to help give hints about the idioms because they are a bit harder to understand and then place in a sentence. He was able to work on his reading skills and pronunciation because I also helped him with words that he could not pronounce. When speaking I helped correct his verb tenses because sometimes he uses the present instead of the past.
