Adelyn TS #12
Date/Time: February 5th, 4 pm
Location: Hecht House
Topic/Skill: During this session, Aras and I spent the first chunk of time going over how to pronounce “th” sound. We watched several videos demonstrating how to do it, where we then practiced. Then we watched a tongue twister video where he practiced using it with a lot of words. Then we applied it into sentences and examples and practiced. We ended this first hour with a lot of questions he had on pronunciation of certain words and a few specific vocabulary words he had been thinking about.
Feedback provided to tutee: Instead of just repeating it over and over again I had him take the time practicing it and getting it right. I also helped with pronunciation by spelling out the words with what they sound like, which helped him a lot. I just encouraged him to keep practicing and think about how he pronounces and what part of the mouth he uses- the tongue instead of the throat.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: I used a different approach where I had him doing more practicing and correction to make sure the pronunciation is right. I learned that he learned a lot better through videos and lots of practice, rather than just repetition.
