Adelyn TS #16

Date/Time: February 5th, 4 pm

Location: Hecht House

Topic/Skill: During this session Aras and spent the entire hour working on speaking and conversational skills. I would say that this was one of the best sessions we had, there was a lot of discussion and lots of improvement. It was highly interactive and interesting. I found a website that had millions of conversation topics and questions. I let him choose which ones (more interesting that way) and we took turns asking questions then turned it into a discussion. This was very important because it was more than speaking, it involved listening and comprehension. These conversations were all over the place talking about culture, debates, experiences, interests, life stories, dreams, etc.

Feedback provided to tutee: I honestly did not have to give too much feedback. I helped him with pronunciation a few times and with vocabulary he did not know. I used examples and context to help him understand. I was really surprised though because he corrected himself a few times when using the “th” sound. I was very surprised by that self correction and improvement.

Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: I feel like he had an amazing time this lesson because it was very interactive and relaxed. He is very advanced in speaking and knows a lot of vocabulary and does not seem to struggle with tenses or anything. One thing I have noticed though is he does speak pretty fast so at times it can be hard to hear pronunciation and what he's saying. This was a really fun session where we were able to joke a lot and practice all skills and knowledge.
