Adelyn TS #17

Date/Time: February 7th, 8 pm

Location: Zoom

Topic/Skill: During this session, Jeah and I started off with a recap of everything we have learned (nouns, adjectives, and verbs). She provided examples, when to use, and we worked on examples in sentences. Today's goal was learning, understanding, and forming questions. I started off with the definitions and showed two different forms of questions: “wh” and “yes/no'' questions. We went over each type with the definitions, formulas, examples, pictures, and sentences. Then we watched a few videos to explain better and practice. We worked together to create example sentences and then we ended with pictures and forming questions based on what was displayed.

Feedback provided to tutee: I designed this lesson for her to have her practice more speaking. I did not want her writing as much today but instead looking at and hearing examples to form her own questions. I encouraged her to take the time to think instead of resorting back to me or the examples. I helped her by thinking through her own personal interests and pictures and she was able to come up with a lot of good questions.

Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: I think she still just needs to gain more confidence and she is a bit reserved, but she understands a lot and has a lot of knowledge. I think she has learned a lot, but it is difficult for her to acquire her knowledge. One other thing that helped was me giving lots of word examples before she speaks. I also think it still is a bit hard for her to be creative and come up with things, but I know she knows it.
