Topic/Skill: Reading and speaking

Feedback provided to the tutee: We went over another script of preparatory questions that an interviewer might ask. We spoke to brainstorm answers and for her to fill me in on her background, then we basically tried to condense an entire personal statement into a couple minutes of spoken word. 

Lessons Learned: It was fun to be taught a crash course of her discourse, niche, and discipline. She gets a lot of substance out of me listening to her spill ideas and absorbing them, then helping her organize them into an answer to such a complex question like “Why apply to our grad program?” in an interview.
